You can take part if you are a mum who has ever had (or currently has) an eating disorder and has a daughter (who does not have an eating disorder) between 8 and 15 years old.

  • Two questionnaires that can be completed at home at any time and will take around 30 min.

  • A 3 hour visit to UCL to do some games and puzzles and where we will take some pictures of your brain, using an MRI (which will take around 45min).

  • The visit to UCL can be done on evenings, weekends or holidays – whenever works best for you!

We want to understand why eating disorders develop and if the way someone thinks is passed on to family members even if the eating disorder is not.

Knowing this will make us better at understanding and preventing eating disorders in the future!

The study is not about eating disorders in young people and therefore we will not ask your daughter any questions about eating/weight.

We also understand that you might not have told your daughter about having had an eating disorder, and so, for the study we will not tell them this information.
